The course is intended for those who want to learn how to be self-employed in Iceland. It is also well-suited for immigrants with a background in self-employment or contracting in their home countries.

The aim of the course is to assist you in building your own business, learning how to make offers, negotiating with potential clients, and marketing your services online. The course is taught in English.

  • Entrepreneurship and business management. You will get training in establishing your own business as well as identifying and evaluating business opportunities.
  • Marketing, social media, and customers. You will learn about marketing products and services online as well as receiving guidance on how to use social media, search engines, and web analytics tools in marketing.
  • Contract making and negotiation techniques. You will learn about negotiations with different parties, with the long-term interests of all as a guide. You will also receive training in defining negotiation goals for your own company.

This course is for individuals, 20 years and older, who want to learn about how to be self-employed in Iceland.

To participate in the program and to ensure the best possible learning outcomes, students must have English skills equivalent to level A2.1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

 The target group for further education according to the board of The Icelandic Education Fund.

  • Assessment is based on attendance, project work and active participation in the program.
  • To complete the program and graduate with a diploma, it is necessary to achieve 80% attendance.

  • The program is subsidized by the Education Fund to equalize access and promote learning for adults.
  • Course commencement: Please note that a minimum number of participants is required for the course to be held.
